Dear readers,
In November 1939 the Dutch seagoing steamtug BEVERWIJK 20, of 330 tons gross, built in 1921 by N.V.Werf Vooruit, Enkhuizen, yard number 129 was sold to USSR.
More particulars on her: dim. 116.7x26.4x12.9, launched for own account of the shipyard as KEES, sold to N.V. Sleepboot Beverwijk 20 end of 1920 and renamed BEVERWIJK 20. The tug company belonged to the Dutch dredging company of M.J. van Hattum, later Van Hattum & Blankevoort, having some more tugs, using them in order to tow their dredgers and barges all over the world.
Back to the tug involved: she is said to have departed November 1939 to Murmansk, where she was taken over. Since then every written trace of the vessel disappeared. Some sources say she was renamed B.20 but there is no proof for this.
Victor Yarovoy mailed me she is not in any Russian merchant navy list so he suggests she may be part of the secret fleet of Epron or NKPD.
Who could help me to any suggestion of her fate after November 1939?
750 indicated horse power.
Martin Lindenborn
