Podpisana jako Yamashiro, ale tak naprawdę to zmodernizowany FUSO.
Może znalazł właśnie jego, a mu się pokidało z Yamashiro.
Don’t get too excited folks. This just came up over on the J-aircraft forum also, so I’ll just post here what I posted there, with a minor addition at bottom.
First, the old axiom, never let the truth get in the way of a good story, is at play here!
Cedric (Verdier) did not have camera with him on the dive portrayed, and as far as has been ascertained in the interim, did not actually make it to the wreck on his dive. So the wreck footage seen in that Youtube clip could be of anything.
Unfortunately this (so-called Yamashiro ‘dive’) is not the only incidence of Mr Verdier falsifying his dive accomplishments to enhance his status. (A certain cave dive being another glaring and actually verified attempt at his falsifying another so-called ‘record’ dive.) As I have communicated directly to Mr Verdier some time ago, he should be ashamed of himself by continuing, our allowing to continue, this farce that he dived the wreck of Yamashiro.
So unless that is the wreck footage that another documentary film crew supposedly shot (of Yamashiro) at a later time using an ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) then that is not Yamashiro (or Fuso) or any other wreck in Surigao Strait. Whatever the case may be, it is certainly not footage shot on the dive that Mr Verdier attempted.
And given the expense it would have cost for the documentary crew to get the ROV footage (of Yamashiro, if that’s what they have, as it is my understanding that it has never been seen/shown outside the documentary crews circle to verify it is Yamashiro), I would be very surprised that they would let their ‘priceless’ footage (so to speak, if they have it of Yamashiro) make it’s debut on Youtube with no credits to themselves.
A Mr Tony Tully (author and historian) may better be able to comment on the current status of the ROV footage shot in Surigao Strait by the doco team as he was consulting with them as an advisor at the time IIRC. For those so interested to view the thread he is commenting on re same go to http://www.j-aircraft.org/smf/index.php?topic=8811.0
