In 2014 I won a national competition for a commission for ‘The Art of Remembering’ first shown at the Rheged Gallery, Cumbria. This touring exhibition examined how the First World War has been memorialized and explored its significance today.
The series involved meticulous research to produce highly detailed ship models which are combined with historic photographs and materials with special significance to the story. The work is presented in exhibition cases refencing maritime and ethnographic museums. Many of the stories tell how this European war was brought to the shores of Africa and Polynesia, and it imagines how this might be seen through the eyes of a shaman''
