Hello
GLITTERTIND had fishing number in Norway
1925 AA-5-G sealchatcher,
1930 M-13-A
1938 in Finland Suomi-21, in herring catch 1938-1939 in North Atlantic, 1953 deleted from fishing register.
- why that ship was in Gdynia?
After WWII Glittertind was in normal cargotrafick in the Baltic Sea. Coal from Poland was typical load, but there was also very much smuggle to and from Poland maybe it was because that the ship was sized.
- was that wrack(ship) simply left in Poland, or sold?
I guess it was to pay the fines.
- what happened with the Finnish crew?
when the ship was sized I think the crew could trawl to home.
[www.sbib.dk] no.159. an grounding incident in danish watters 17.7.1948 on the way to Gdynia.
[kauppalaiva.nba.fi] From Finnsh Shipplist, the ship is still in list ten years after butt this is eventualy an Bank Mortgage ? 1948 is last year in Norske Veritas.
